Abstract: The waterway on the middle reaches of the river Elbe and operational shortcomings or the navigation structures situated closely to the weir are discussed. The adjustment of the dividing wall removes some of the mentioned troubles. Examples of the adjustments are carried out. Research results were obtained with aerodynamic equipment and with a water model of the dividing wall adjustment for the dam at Kostelec n/L. Recommendations for the procedure for solving these problems using reduced scale modeling.
