Abstract: Entrance into the lower approach of the navigation chamber and difficulties with its wrong placing - influence of additional factors. Theoretical and experimental analysis of the difficulties experienced in the example of one lock and dam of the Middle-Elbe waterway. Present findings of the investigation of proposed measures (correction of the bed of the fairway, rectifiers of the water flow, partial discharge of flood waters through the navigation chamber). Possibilities of more general application of some of the investigation results.
