Abstract: A method by which failureless winter operation in an open service water supply channel in Northern Bohemia is successfully secured by utilizing heated wastewater from a stream power plant is presented. The length of the supply channel is 21.9 km and the maximum discharge is 3.3 m3/sec. The results of the theoretical solution of the thermal balance in the supply channel are compared with the measurement results of the individual balance items.
