Abstract: China has a large land area and many reservoirs, how to balance the contradiction between water conservancy safety, ecological safety and landscape practice in the reservoir area is the focus of sustainable development and green water conservancy nowadays. In this study, we take the Qilichong Reservoir as an example of water resource allocation project in northern Hubei, firstly, we use MIKE21 software to construct a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model of the water body to simulate the water flow field and flow pattern of the reservoir area under different working conditions; secondly, we use the language of landscape planning and design to translate the results of the analysis, and finally we condense the hydrodynamic model based on the analysis of hydrodynamic characterization in two aspects, i. e. the classification of the area of suitability of the landscape construction and the method of implementation. Finally, the landscape planning and design method based on hydrodynamic characterization of the reservoir area is condensed from two aspects. The results show that the application of this method in the program can effectively avoid the unsuitable construction area, and provide a certain scientific basis for the planning layout of activity nodes, waterfront roads, water circulation facilities, etc. The relevant results can also provide a certain reference for similar lake and reservoir-type water body landscape practice projects.
