Abstract: A finite-difference numerical scheme for solving the transient Navier-Stokes equations for an incompressible flows is adopted. The primutive variables of the velocity and pressure are used which are equally applicable to both two-and three-dimensional problems. By a generalization of the standard explicit projec- tion method, the present scheme considers a fully implicit scheme in the velocity and explicit scheme in the pressure calculations. The implicitness of the velocity calculation releases the severe restriction on the time step and the explicitness of the pressure calculation avoids the necessity of iteration for solving the pressure field. Test computational examples for 2D and 3D driven cavity flow problems are also presented. The calculated results are in good agreement with experimental data and other numerical solutions.
