Abstract: The oscillatory viscous flow over two-and three-dim ensional small amplitude bed configurations is determined. Results show that steady stream ings are present which tend to carry sediments from the troughs towards the crests of the bottom both in the longitudinal and transverse directions. The relevance of the results to the study of ripple form ation at the bottom of gravity w aves is discussed.
