Centerline Velocity Profiles in a Finite-Width Channel

Abstract: The Cess closure model is substituted into an integral form of the shear equation to predict, by numerical integration, velocity profiles in law-of-the wall coordinates. This predictor is applied to the case of smooth-channel free-surface flow with aspect ratios of 3 or less, to investigate the general case of flow in channels with unfavorable aspect ratio. Results compare favorably with application of the predictor to pipe flow or true boundary layer (wide-channel) flow.
