Abstract: In the last decade great efforts have been made to develop and apply numerical models forpredicting coastal waves and wave-induced currents.A number of wave models are nowavailable based either on the exact mild slope equation or its parabolic approximation.Thecombined effect of wave refraction diffraction and wave-current interaction can be treated withreasonable confidence using such models. For the computation of wave-induced currents thelatest models are based on the complete depth integrated time-averaged equations with all thephysically important terms retained in the equation. The combined use of such wave andcirculation models has resulted in great improvement in the predictive potentialof such models.
