Abstract: A mathematical model is presented for the calculation of sediment transport in meandering channels. The model is based on the solution of the momentum equations governing the flow in the lateral, vertical and longitudinal directions, the continuity equation and the transport equation for suspended sediment concentration with a three-dimensional numerical procedure. The turbulent stresses and concentration flauxes are calculated with a k-ε turbulence model. The rates of sediment deposition/erosion are computed from a sediment transport model. Three variants of such a model are considered. Results are presented for the net rates of deposition and growth rates of channel bed under different sediment loads.
