Abstract: The discharge of cooling water from a Nuclear Plant inevitablycauses an unwelcome thermai effect,as it is not possible toprevent the temperature of the river from being too high incertain places. Therefore it was only to be expected that anattempt would be made to reduce the size of the area affected bythese high temperatures by trying to achieve the_quickest possiblemixing of the discharge into the river water. It is_quite commonto obtain this fast mixing by placing various effluent outletpipes on the river bottom aiong a transverse section;theseoutlets are spaced at such a distance as to allow the dispersionwake of each one to come into quick contact with the adjacentones.
