Abstract: In this paper the need to simulate hydrodynamic fields in the analysis of the eutrophication in lakes is emphasized: a new model for three-dimensional and long-term analyze of the growth and the diffusion of phy toplankton and phosphorus, taking into account the effects produced by hydrodynamic fields, is proposed. mass balance equations for phosphorus and phytop lankton are solved simultaneously by means of a multilayer finite differences scheme: the exchanges between phosphorus and phytoplancton are related to production, deccmpos ition and mineralization, and the effects produced on these kinetics by vertical dis-tribution of tamperature, light intensity and water turbidity.
