Abstract: The present paper evaluates the dilution and transport mechanisms at Playa del Chivo area, where there is a submarine outfall for more than 60 years, discharging the sew ages from a very important part of the city. These mechanisms were evaluated from 1984 to 1987. It is conc luded that the impact area affected by the submarine outfall is limited with in a radius not greater than 1 km.
