Abstract: The authors applied the theory of irrotational motions of perfect liquid with free surface to describe the wave motion in the sea of finite depth where the interaction of two wave systems having different amplitude and direction of propagation is non-linear. The problem was solved by the Stokes method of successive approximations taking into account the terms of the 2 nd order infinitesimal. Based on the theoretical solution as well as present experimental data concerning the relationship between the height of reflected waves and their angle of incidence they put forward a numerical model enabling to evaluate the effect of oblique incident waves upon vertical wall. The equations describing wave field and wave loads upon vertical wall have been verified by a great number of laboratory measurements.
