Abstract: The existence of hyperconcentrated density current at the confluence of the Yellow River and the Meihe River is proved and the conditions of forming a submerging density current is deduced. Characteristics of a hyperconcentrated density current in rivers, which is quite different from a density current in reservoir, are i llustrated in detail.
