Abstract: The boundary shear distribution is an important parameter for the hydraulic design of open channels. Theoretical and experimental investigations on the dependence of boundary shear distribution on the shape of channel and on the roughness in rectangular and trapezoidai open channels are presented. By regression analysis, the applicability of test results is ensured for all geometrical characteristics and all roughness ratios of practical interest. The comparison of the findings with results of previous investi-gations is discussed.
