Abstract: Experimental results of clay erosion by rainfall on clay covered by shallow surface water are presented. nThe data are analysed in terms of erosion rate per rain drop and eroding pressure generated by raindrops on soil surface. The effect of overland flow is also simulated and its effect is discernable from three dimensional plots of erosion rate versus eroding pressure and unit width discharge rate.
