Abstract: Recent investigations on the transport without deposition in rigid boundarychannels have shown that the velocity to maintain deposit free conditions isdependent on a number of factors such as the particle size and its cohesivity, the volumetric concentration and the hydraulic radius.Little attention hasbeen paid to the shape effect of the cross section and the bed roughness.Theobjective of this research is to investigate sediment transport withoutdeposition in rectangular and circular cross section channels with rigidsmooth and rough beds covering a range of non-cohesive particle sizes andvolumetric concentrations.
