Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the volume of mud that is liable to be eroded in reservoirs by floods. The study relied on a series of sample drillings, on establishing the laws of erosion using flume tests and finallyon simulation using mathematical modeling techniques. The mathematical model associates a one-dimensional flow model with the resolution ofanadvection-diffusion equation for concentrations of suspended solids. The flow of erosion and deposition is computed on a two-dimensional grid of the reservoir bottom.
