Abstract: Hyperconcentrated flow of fine sediment (mud f1ow) has yield stress andhigh viscosity due to electro-chemical forces between sediments and forces SUMMARY: Hyperconcentrated flow of fine sediment (mud f1ow) has yield stress andhigh viscosity due to electro-chemical forces between sediments and forces between sediment and void water. We derived the formulas for yield stress andviscosity as a function of sediment concentration and diameter with parametersrelating to electro-chemical forces. Moreover, the characteristics of turbulenthyperconcentrated flow were investigated in open channel experiments.
