Abstract: Numerical solution of the turbulent flow past a dredged channel placed perpendicular to the main flow direction is obtained via a finite difference scheme. A cartesian grid is used for the solution of the averaged equations and closure is modelled according to the k-W turbulence model. The PISO algorithm is used to solve the coupled system of equations and convergence is achieved with the use of under-relaxation factors. Satisfactory agreement is obtained when the calculations are compared with the experimental data reported in Ref. (5).
