Abstract: Data from a dredged spoil disposal site in Long Island Sound along with a brief theoretical discussion are presented to examine the limits and difficulties in using shear stress as a parameter for resuspension models. Turbulent and wave kinetic energy is shown to be a reliable entrainment correlate and offers a number of possible advantages for multidimensional modelers.
