Abstract: An unrecognised hydraulic behav iour of a sag or depression inlet is described. Where adjacent slopes are mild a pool form s. W here they are steep a jump can force the pool away from the inlet causing kerb overtopping an d m inor flood ing. The in let capacity is reduced to it s steep grade performan ce. A simplified design formu la and a de sign graph are presented.
