Abstract: The modelling of the groundwater flow of the aquifers in the northern part of Kaduna State, Nigeria is presented following the pumping tests done in the area by Strojexport Nigeria Development Ltd, 1980. The aquifers are modelled by the use of finite difference and finite element methods, with appropriate initial and boundary conditions. The finite difference model emplo yed is that developed by Prickett and Lonnquist (1971) where the sets of equations are solved by iterative alternating direction implicit method (IADI). In applying the finite element method, the integral representation of the partial differential equation was derived on the weighted residual principle.
