Abstract: The subject of this paper is an ongoing laboratory investigation of the physics of wind- induced water circulation in lakes and small ocean bays. An experimental facility, originally designed for the study of plane Couette flow of air, was modified to suit the needs of the present experiment. A description of this novel modelling facility, and some scaling cons iderations pertaining to it, are presented and discussed.
