Abstract: Oscillation has been thought to occur easily in air-filled type rubber dams, but as they offer many advantages including function and cost, the need had been made to find ways o f reducing osci llation arose. We examined the cause of oscillation by mathematical means as well as experiments on two-and three-dimensional models. As a result, we have found that by adopting a Fin structure, improving aeration, or by using a longer Fin, the oscillation can be kept to lower level than that of water-filled rubber dams (which are generally thought to hardly oscillate), not only at low overflow, but also at high overflow.
