Abstract: An experiment is carried out on the effect of two submerged barriers with di fferent shapes, used to protect a beach. The action of irregular waves, with JONSWAP spectral distribution, on these structures is studied and the results are compared with those for an unprotected beach. The hydraulic behaviour, taken as the wave and set-up - set-down modifications is also studied.
