Abstract: The tidal circulation in a coastal bay is computed by an unconditionally stable semi- implicit finite element model and by a well-established ADI finite difference scheme. Model predictions are presented for a series of representative simulations. A verification study is also performed. It is found that accurate input tides are needed to simulate the propagation of the complex shallow water tides in the bay.
