Abstract: Hydraulic model studies have been carried out to study the behavlour of a new approach channel to the Port of Kandla. Based on the dredging data and hydrographic surveys, rates of siltation in the new channel have been computed and compared with those of the old navigation channel being used over the past three decades. Subsequent behaviour of the new channel as analysed from the available data was in conformity with the model predictions that the new channel would maintain very well along the proposed dredged cut. A careful watch on the overall changes in the estuary has been suggested.
