Abstract: The present paper reviews computer methods of predicting sediment transport and erosion around artificial islands due to wave and current action. Emphasis is given to a suitable simulation of wave transformation around the island, taking account of some or all of the following effects: wave refraction, wave diffraction; wave reflection; wave breaking with associated energy dissipation; wave nonlinearities and wave-current interactions. The flow associated with the trans formed wave field is then applied to a selected sediment transport model to determine the sediment erosion.
