Abstract: This study presents a 3D simulation of non-uniform bed-load transport using the Lagrangian method and the probabilistic Exner equation (PEE). The Lagrangian method allows for simulating the non-equilibrium bed load of non-uniform sediment. The PEE considers the effect of depth on the speed of sediment exchange between bed load and the stationary bed. The combination of the Lagrangian method and the PEE was expected to be a precise and practical method for simulating the complex behavior of non-uniform sediment. This study examined the influence of key sub models: average step length and vertical probability of pick-up/deposition rate. We conducted several simulations of meandering channels to validate the sub models. The influence of the sub models was investigated by comparing experimental data and simulated data.
