Abstract: During floods in highly urbanized areas, the surface flow mostly concentrates within the street network. Still water usually invades the building areas through the openings within the building facades, and this intrusion flow is expected to interact with the obstacles located in the streets and on the facades (parked cars, poles, signs, mailboxes. .. …). The present work aims at measuring the flow entering building areas through a damaged door and a damaged window, in the presence of obstacles. Present results show that this flow resemble that through a lateral rectangular weir but that the obstacles can strongly affect the flow pattern around the opening. Moreover, results show that the intrusion discharge is strongly affected by the type of opening, the type of obstacle, its location with regards to the opening and finally the Froude number of the approaching flow.
