Abstract: Global climate change has had significant effects on water resources, with notable shifts occurring across diverse regions. It is imperative to closely examine regional variations in water resources and their underlying causes to effectively manage and safeguard these vital resources. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the water resources changes in Hubei Province from 1998 to 2023. It employs SEM (Structural equation modelling) to quantify the degree of influence of human activities and climate change on water resources over these 26 years. The results of the study show that human activities significantly affect climate change and water resources changes with a total impact coefficient of 0.942 and 0.959, respectively, and that climate change also affects water resources changes with a total impact coefficient of 0.791. The impacts of human activities and climate change on water resources account for 55 % and 45 %, respectively.
