Abstract: The beach profile, which is influenced by multiple dynamic factors and characterized by complex morphological changes, is an essential aspect of coastal engineering research. A key focus of this study is to determine the equilibrium beach profile. Based on the Lee-Dong profile model, a prediction formula for the equilibrium beach profile with two sandbars was established through superposition of the background profile and the sandbar profiles. The background profile is represented by a logarithmic function based on the principle of maximum entropy, while the sandbar profile is segmented into seaward and shoreward slopes described by distinct functional representations. The formula demonstrates strong agreement with the equilibrium profile of the typical beach with two sandbars prior to the Daihekou-Yanghekou beach nourishment project in Qinhuangdao, China. This equilibrium formula provides valuable insights for optimization of designs in beach nourishment projects and enhancement of long-term beach stability.
