Abstract: Increasing frequency of extreme floods due to climate change poses significant risks to bridge safety, with bridge scour. Thus, this study investigates the scour characteristics of bridge piers under overtopping flow conditions through a laboratory experiment. This research focuses on analyzing scour depth under various bridge overtopping flow scenarios with an emphasis on the relationship between scour depth and the amount of overtopping discharge and aiming to identify the transition point where scour depth shifts from increasing to decreasing as the amount of overtopping discharge changes.
