Abstract: This study explores the dynamics of Large Wood (LW) entrainment, transport, and deposition in the Allier River (France) using the ORSA2D_WT model, which combines two-dimensional Shallow Water Equations with the Discrete Element Method. Field data collected from 2020 to 2024, including Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tracked LW positions and detailed topographical and hydraulic information, support model calibration and validation. Preliminary simulations reveal the importance of accurate hydrodynamic representation for reliable LW predictions. By refining the model to simulate LW dynamics under various flood scenarios, this research aims to enhance flood risk management strategies while preserving the ecological functions of LW in river systems.
