Abstract: Population growth inarguably increases demand for human shelter. In response, developments sprawl over agricultural lands that have been reallocated as residential areas. To safeguard the irrigation flow reaching the remaining agricultural lands downstream, irrigation canals traversing some proposed land developments can ingeniously be transformed into water features serving their original function and providing added value. This paper presents an approach to repurposing an existing irrigation canal into a dynamic water feature. A comprehensive hydraulic analysis of the proposed water feature transformation, designed in collaboration with a landscape architect, was done to assess its feasibility. The boulders along the water feature, designed as weirs, were strategically positioned not only to enhance aesthetic value but also functionality. The integration of hydraulic engineering and landscape design in this water feature design displays a seamless harmony between the two fields offering insights into sustainable urban water management practices.
