Abstract: This study investigates sediment dynamics within submerged vegetative canopies using high-resolution numerical modelling. We employed the Finite Volume Method in OpenFOAM, to simulate flow and sediment transport around cylindrical vegetation stems, capturing the detailed hydrodynamic-structure interactions. The results reveal critical zones of sediment deposition and resuspension. We explore how the characteristics of these zones depend on the flow speeds, vegetation density, and distance into the vegetated region. These insights contribute to the development of effective management and restoration strategies for coastal wetlands.
