Abstract: This study aims to optimize MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids) concentration in biological reactors of wastewater treatment plants by analyzing the relationship between temperature fluctuations and MLSS levels. Utilizing an LSTM model, the study presents a method to predict BOD based on the BOD/TOC ratio, allowing for real-time estimation of BOD using TOC data. The F/M ratio is then calculated with the predicted BOD and operational data, helping determine the optimal MLSS concentration. An automated system for continuous MLSS optimization is proposed, which improves the stability and efficiency of the wastewater treatment process. Validation of the LSTM model with actual plant data demonstrates enhanced BOD prediction accuracy, suggesting significant potential for operational improvements that reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental impact.
