Abstract: The horizontal acoustic doppler current profiler (H-ADCP) used for continuous discharge measurement generates backscatters of sound wave during the process of measuring flow velocity, and since this backscatters varies according to the suspended sediment concentration (SSC), the continuous suspended sediment concentration can be calculated by utilizing the relationship between SSC and SCB. The relationship between SSC and SCB was developed through regression analysis between SCB data from H-ADCP and individually measured SSC. In this study, in addition to SCB, various variables expected to affect suspended sediment concentration were used as independent variables to examine the correlation. Also, based on suspend sediment load calculated in this way, total sediment load was estimated and compared with the results obtained by existing methods. From the results, the method using multiple regression showed improved accuracy compared to simple linear regression of SCB-SSC, and the results of total sediment load also showed similar accuracy to the existing method.
