Abstract: Paldang Reservoir is a primary water source for the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions, emphasizing the importance of water quality improvement and management. However, the reservoir features complex hydrodynamic systems due to its three major inflowing rivers, unique topographical characteristics, and the operation of various hydraulic structures. While data on inflowing rivers can be obtained from the national monitoring network, fixed-point monitoring has limitations in representativeness. To overcome this, sensor-based high-frequency monitoring was integrated with advanced analytical methods. In regions like Paldang Reservoir, where complex water bodies are observed, high spatial and temporal resolution data are essential. This study systematically combined long-term monitoring data with field measurements of rivers for a more comprehensive analysis. Furthermore, water quality indices were developed to identify stratification phenomena and water flow patterns in the Bukhan River, Namhan River, Gyeongan Stream, Paldang Reservoir, and the area in front of Paldang Dam. This study aims to investigate stratification in Paldang Reservoir under various hydrological conditions through high-frequency continuous monitoring and integrated analysis with the national monitoring network. Additionally, it interprets surface and bottom layer water quality variations and analyzes the mixing processes within the water body.
