Abstract: The vulnerability of Dam and Reservoir (D&R) systems to Climate Change (CC) is assessed via a methodology, which is a part of a 5-step typologized procedure for the assessment of adaptation of water infrastructure to CC consisting of the following steps: (1) description of the infrastructure, (2) CC assessment, (3) vulnerability assessment, (4) risk assessment, and (5) assessment of adaptation measures. In this work the first three steps of this procedure are briefly presented and applied to assess at a preliminary level the vulnerability of Almopeos D&R system in Greece to CC. This assessment revealed that three groups of climate hazards emerge as potential significant hazards for Almopeos D&R system; these are (1) mean air temperature increase and heat waves, (2) mean precipitation decrease and droughts, and (3) extreme precipitation and river flooding. Consequently, for each of these groups a detailed risk assessment (step 4) needs to be performed to identify the significant hazards, for which adaptation options should be identified and assessed (step 5).
