Abstract: Partially vegetated flows (PVFs), which are often observed in stream channels and riparian corridors and give rise to the development of shallow mixing layers (Proust, Cerino, Berni, & Nikora, 2025), are studied in a laboratory flume. The focus is on: (i) investigating the streamwise development of the flow structure (time-averaged flow and turbulence including large-scale structures); and (ii) assessing the effect of the vertical flow confinement on the flow structure.
