Abstract: Qingkou Water Works, which were the water projects at the intersection of the Grand Canal with the Yellow River and the Huaihe River during the invasion of the Yellow River into the Huaihe River (1128-1855), is the most representative of the water projects at the intersections of the Grand Canal with five major water systems of China. In this paper, the planning ideas and management strategies of the Qingkou Water Works, and the main problems faced by the different sections of the Qingkou Water Works and the corresponding measures taken are discussed. The conclusion is that in the past 700 years, the continuous construction and operation of Qingkou Water Works have effectively guaranteed the unimpeded transportation, but with the influence of sediment deposition of the Yellow River, the topography and environment of the Huaibei plain have changed dramatically.
