Enhanced Affinity Law for Centrifugal Pumps at Variable Speed

Abstract: The paper presents a novel approach for analytical representation of specific energy E and torque T curves versus discharge Q and speed N, for centrifugal pumps operated at variable speed both in pump and turbine mode. An enhanced polynomial expression valid for both E(Q,N) and T(Q,N) is introduced and validated against experimental data.
