Abstract: This study investigates how climate change is altering hydrological patterns in a high contaminated catchment in Scotland, United Kingdom (UK), with a focus on extreme events – floods and droughts. Analysing historical trends and projecting future scenarios, we examine shifts in the frequency, intensity, and duration of high and low flow events, highlighting the increasing unpredictability of hydrological extremes. Our research tackles the challenge of calibrating and validating hydrological model under evolving climate conditions. Additionally, we explore the transport of contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, nutrients, and endocrine disruptors, through the catchment. By identifying hydrological signals and integrating contaminant dynamics into our model calibration, we use flow data to assess the implications of these changes for water quality and environmental management.
