Abstract: The riparian connects the river ecosystem and the terrestrial ecosystem, transporting sediment into the river under the action of water flow. The organic debris bait in the riparian sediment is an essential food source for aquatic organisms. Under the cascade reservoirs, the changes of velocity and submerged between rivers and reservoirs have an impact on the recharge of debris baits. The response of the recharge rule between debris baits and velocity is not clear. In this paper, the characteristics of the debris bait obtained from the sampling and analysis of the Yalong River are used as a reference to prepare the experimental debris bait. Designed the simulated riparian of different debris bait mass content conditions such as non-debris, 4.8%, 9.1%, and 16.7%. The laboratory controllable flow system was used to explore the influence of velocity on the debris bait incipient motion. The results showed that the velocities were 40.2 cm/s, 37.8 cm/s, 35.1 cm/s and 32.4 cm/s, respectively, when the mass contents conditions were non-debris, 4.8%, 9.1% and 16.7%. With the increase of the mass content of debris bait, the incipience velocity decreases. In this paper, the relationship between the incipient velocity and the mass content is .The incipient velocity of the debris bait in the Yalong river is calculated to be 39.7 cm/s. This research results expand the qualitative impact of the traditional aquatic ecology on the recharge to the quantitative impact associated with hydraulic parameters. which provides scientific basis for the estimation of debris bait supply in rivers and ensuring the health of riverine aquatic ecosystems.
