Abstract: Pulse-to-pulse coherent Doppler systems have been commercially available in the past few decades. In challenging situations, these devices give high precision and low noise data. The pulse coherent profilers may also measure relatively small cell sizes and offer significantly more flow information than typical Doppler systems. Advanced techniques expand measuring capabilities that rely on the establishment of experimental parameters, extending the needed expertise for both researchers and practitioners. The Nortek Vectrino Profilers technical specifications, operational principles, and previously reported user experiences are compiled in this paper. The acoustic Doppler Vectrino profiler (ADVP) can collect a profile of 30 mm at a spatial resolution of 1 mm. (Liu et al. in Acta Geophys 2022) conducted experiments in the laboratory flume and reported the four best probe configurations of the ADVP based on the velocity profile data. In the present study, experiments were performed in the laboratory flume for best probe configuration reported by the aforesaid authors to look at the performance and behaviour of the instrument, with an emphasis on variations in the velocity profile. The collected velocity data were filtered using the phase space threshold method and used for turbulent analysis. The measured velocity profile using ADVP is not well-reported, when considering 10 and 30 mm profiling lengths.
