Abstract: The UN Sustainability Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on clean water and sanitation aims to ensure access to water and sanitation for all. The main global deficits on SDG 6 are connected to developing countries, and Europe and North America have neglectable fractions of their populations underserved according to UN reporting (UN, 2021). While the data from the UN are used to track progress towards SDG 6, the situation in many Arctic regions within Europe and North America, however, is not reflected due to the large population centres dominating the national statistics (Bressler and Henessy, 2018). This includes Greenland. Here we present the status of SDG 6 in Greenland collected in surveys made in 2021-23 and discuss potential environmental and health implications backed up by preliminary results from recent (2023-2025) field investigations.
