Abstract: This study examines the effect of a 25% transverse bed slope on local scour around a circular pier. The experiment was performed under clear-water conditions with uniform sediment. Scour development was monitored continuously using an Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter, and the final bed and water surface elevations were measured after seven days. Results showed rapid scour in the first 12 hours, followed by gradual deepening. A six-parameter polynomial accurately represented the time evolution, predicting an equilibrium depth of 15.23 cm, approximately 11% higher than the final depth. The scour hole exhibited strong asymmetry: a steeper, deeper side slope formed on the shallow side of the pier, whereas the deep side displayed a gentler slope and a smaller scour depth . Excavated sediment from the scour hole was deposited at the deep side of the bank.
