Abstract: This study builds upon our previous research, which established the existence of Dynamotropism an asymmetrical modification of root architecture in response to above-ground mechanical forces applied to the stem. While the phenomenon is confirmed, its driving mechanisms remain unclear. Consequently, this paper focuses on decoupling the causative factors of dynamotropism, specifically distinguishing between (1) internal physiological triggers in the tissue-level signaling and (2) external physical constraints arising from soil -stem interactions. Additionally, we examine the role of sediment properties by analyzing how varying sand grain sizes modulate root structural responses under mechanical load. Preliminary results suggest that the physical properties of the growth medium have a large influence on the root system's resistance to external forces. These results serve as a basis for further investigation.
